This trip started with a one-way flight across the country and a Craigslist listing for a VW Vanagon.

I named him Seymour—because from the minute I got in, it was clear he just wanted to see more. My close friend Beau came with me, and together we flew to Oregon, picked up the van, and started the long drive back east. What followed was part road trip, part chaotic moments: rainstorms, mountain passes, sleeping in parking lots, breaking down in the middle of nowhere—and more than one run-in with the law. I was arrested before even getting out of New York haha and again later in the trip, where the van was impounded. Between the hecticness of everything, there was freedom, friendship, gas station meals, and some of the quietest moments I’ve ever experienced.

I will forever be thankful for the memories created during this trip, I learned a lot about myself. These photos are a very small slice of this insanely wild and beautiful trip we had together. One that I will never forget and always cherish.
